Welcome to Shema Baptist Church!

It is our desire to be a church that encourages and helps you along life as you walk with God.
We are a new fellowship of believers who desire to impact our community and the world for Christ.  How we do this is by recognizing that it is our role to encourage each other to Learn Who God is (Evangelism), to Grow in our Love and Knowledge of God (Making Disciples), and to Translate that Knowledge and Love into our Daily Lives (Build Strong Families).
We would love for you to join in this with us!
Pastor Troy Fripp

Why the Name - Shema?
The word Shema is an English translation of a Hebrew word for "hear."
It is used to refer to Deuteronomy 6:4-9, where God told the Hebrew people to, "hear" his His instructions, about Who He is, How we should love Him, and how we should go about teaching His will and purpose for our lives to our children.
This passage encompasses what Shema Baptist Church is about:
Evangelism, Discipleship, and Building Strong Families.

What to Expect when You Visit Us

What You See

We are a relatively new church in the Ellaville/Americus Area, incorporating on October 5, 2014.
We welcome people from all ages and walks of life. If you come visit us you are likely to find people who are singled, married, teenagers, children, retired, stay-home moms, entrepreneurs, plant workers, nurses, teachers, administrators, motorcycle riders, etc.
God loves you, and WE LOVE YOU!
And, as John 3:16 says, "God so LOVED the WHOLE WORLD, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

What We Do

We are about meeting the dire needs we see in our own lives and community, to be set free from the bondage of sin, to become a follower of Jesus Christ, and to have families that are strong and whole.

What to Experience

Worship on Sunday mornings (at 10:00 a.m.) is a family-like environment. If you join us you will probably hear us picking on each other just like a big family. Most of us wear comfortable clothing, but we do not discourage those who want to honor God by dressing up.  Our worship songs are normally accompanied by acoustic guitar and are a mix of hymns and worship songs. Our sermons are Biblically based and presented from the heart.
After worship (at 11:15 a.m.) we have a time of fellowship with coffee and occasional refreshments, then move onto our Sunday School classes.
Sunday School (at 11:30 a.m.) is our time to learn, ask questions, and grow together. We offer classes for children, teenagers and adults. These times are a great mix of fun and serious discussion.
Sunday Nights (at 6:00 p.m.) we gather for a focused time of prayer and a group study together.
Wednesdays & Thursdays (Click for Times and Locations) the teenagers and kids gather for their small group at the church and the adults disperse into various homes for our small group time on Wednesday nights, and the college-age/young adults have an additional opportunity to meet on Thursday nights.
This is where the bulk of our spiritual growth, encouragement, accountability, and fellowship takes place. We begin with eating a meal together and then move into a time of studying a story from the Bible.  Again, it is a relaxed atmosphere with discussion among friends! We have great times of discussion and prayer, and all kinds of fun and laughter!
